Elementary & Secondary Student Leadership

STUDENT TRUSTEES

The responsibilities of the two secondary student-elected Student Trustees, include:

  1. advocating for the needs of  ALL TCDSB students and
  2. informing and consulting the student body at large through liaison with ALL Student Councils;
  3. reporting regularly to the Board of Trustees and to the CSLIT on their respective activities. At the end of their terms, the Student Trustees will provide a report regarding issues of concern to students at the June Board meeting.
  4. organizating the annual “Voices That Challenge” TCDSB-wide student conference.

Are you a student with an issue, concern or idea for positive change for students?

Contact YOUR student trustees - they are YOUR voice around the board of trustees table every week.

Student Trustee Elections:

One grade 10 student is elected to the role of student trustee by fellow students, for a 2-year term, every year. For full details on student trustee elections and how you can run for student trustee click here.

  • Applicant/nominee must be a Grade 10 student at the TCDSB.
  • Applicant/nominee must be approved by their school principal.
  • A maximum of one nomination is allowed per school.

Each secondary school is allowed to have one vote in the election of each Student Trustee. The voting delegate must be selected by the school principal in September and must regularly attend CSLIT meetings throughout the school year as a student council or student leadership delegate.

Notice seeking the nomination of one candidate for one of the positions of Student Trustee from each TCDSB Catholic secondary school is sent to each school principal and Student Councils for posting and communication to students in November of each school year.

The student trustee election meeting is held before April 1st of each school year.

CATHOLIC STUDENT LEADERSHIP IMPACT TEAM (CSLIT)

Student Trustees co-chair the Catholic Student Leadership Impact Team (CSLIT), a board-wide student leadership council. More on CSLIT and how you, a TCDSB secondary student can join the team.
